5 Daily Steps for Staying Organized
Whether you’re trying to maintain a household with kids, pets or just a significant other, life can get pretty hectic at times. Here are five quick tips to help you conquer the daily madness and give you more time for yourself.
Keep a Clutter-free Desktop
Your work space is no space for clutter. At the end of each day, put everything in its place. Throw away what you don’t need and organize the rest. Get whatever organizing tools you need to make this happen — paper trays, file folder, whatever works for you.
Make Your Bed Every Day
A foundational habit, this is probably the most important step on this list. By making your bed, your bedroom suddenly appears in order. It starts you off on the right foot and in the right frame of mind. This one simple step injects positivity into your day and makes you an instant winner! If there is one task you complete on a daily basis, it should be this one.
Assign and Maintain a Kitchen Junk Drawer
Often the central command center of a home, the kitchen is the place where family congregates and gets stuff done. Therefore, a drawer dedicated to pens, clips, sticky notes, restaurant menus, and other oddball stuff is convenient and useful. Just be sure to go through it frequently to clear out the old “stuff” that accumulates. It can fill up and get out of control fast!
Baskets, Baskets and More Baskets
Think of baskets as an instant storage solution for every room. Almost anything and everything can be stashed in them. For instance, use baskets to organize belts, socks, scarves and shoes in the closet; remotes and magazines in the living room; or makeup and hair products in the bathroom.
Write a To-do List Before Bed
Clear your mind and get a restful night’s sleep by keeping a pen and notepad in your bedside table drawer. That way, before bed, you can write down your list of “to-do’s” for the next day. By doing this, you not only get those tasks out of your head and onto paper, it keeps you from worrying about them all night.
